Putting My Face On: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

I wear a lot of makeup. Everyday, I wear liquid eyeliner and lengthening mascara, blush, and usually some sort of tinted lip balm or lipstick. This isn’t something I do for anyone else, especially not men (my boyfriend, I think, actually likes it when I wear less makeup): it’s just another thing that cheers me up, like wearing nail polish or brightly colored clothes. Life is short and kind of depressing sometimes, so if all it takes is some red lipstick to make me feel a little better, I’m definitely going to go for it.

I’m no makeup expert at all, and I don’t spend much on my makeup (I’ve been into Sephora once, and all I bought was mascara). I think I’ll know I’ve “made it” when I can afford to buy makeup at department store counters instead of drugstores. But I’m not there yet, so until then, I thought I’d share some of my favorite makeup finds with you. Most everything I’ll be talking about you can find at Target, because that’s how I roll (cheaply).

First up: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.

I knew I needed to buy this because

a) it looks like a crayon, and
b) it looks like a crayon.

Oh, and did I mention Emma Stone is in the ad?
That’s literally all Revlon has to do to convince me to buy anything. “Oh, Emma Stone’s so beautiful. I need that so I’m beautiful, too” is how my brain works.

Anyway, this stuff is great because it really is a stain. Based on the name, it should last through a kiss, but in my case it lasted through some pierogi and a glass of wine (I’m revealing a lot about my life here, you guys). Seriously, this stuff stays on your lips. I wore it to dinner, went to a concert, and then came home, ate a popsicle (again, you know a lot about my life now), brushed my teeth and went to bed. In the morning, my lips were still kind of pink. A miracle. A lip stain miracle.

I bought the shade Lovesick, which looked the same on my lips as it looks in the picture. I love this shade, and I’m thinking of going for red next, because I’ve been looking for a good, bright red lipstick.

It costs about $8 and comes in several different shades, so go try it out now! I’m also probably going to try the Revlon Lip Butter because it’s really getting some rave reviews.

Do you guys have any super-cheap makeup finds? Are you fans of lipstick like I am? Do you have one that stays in place, even through a major pierogi chow session? Let me know!

Thanks Kerry, I’m going to have to look for that. I like lip color, but glosses annoy me by being sticky (my hair gets in them) or coming off on everything and regular lipstick makes me feel like an old lady. I’ll have to go check it out!

Sticky lip gloss is the bane of my existence. If anything, these are TOO dry, but the good thing is you can always put a (NON-STICKY, of course) gloss on overtop and the color will pretty much stay put (in my limited experience).

I bought one of these -and- one of the butters last night because of buy one get one 50% off at Walgreens. The butter feels nice, but I got a peachy color so it mostly shows up like a shimmery chapstick. I got the stain in a light pink but haven’t decided if I should take it back for a darker color before I open it.
