Lady Jam: Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings, Father John Misty

One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2013 was to see 5 concerts. Mostly this is because H. and I love going to concerts, but when you get older and you’re not in college anymore and you have to “get up” the next morning so you can “go to work,” it becomes really, really easy to skip concerts. So last night, I went to my first concert of the year with H. and Alex: The Walkmen and Father John Misty.

Mostly, I was going for the Walkmen. I didn’t know anything about Father John Misty, but I actually really loved them. Him? Them? I don’t know, is it a group or a person? I’m very tired, you guys, I just went to a show and I couldn’t possible research. Anyway, the lead singer did a lot of very unusual dancing, which I always appreciate. This song, Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings, isn’t really a Lady Jam, in that there are no ladies in the band. But, because I will do anything to make my interests fit the format of this blog, the video does feature Welcome to Ladyville favorite Aubrey Plaza! She is great, this song’s great, everything’s great. I’m so tired, you guys.

Fear Fun was my favorite record of last year! It’s very storysong-ish and 70s and wonderful. You have to listen to it from start to finish. I assure you, you will love it.
